NORDFJORDBUNAD

Nordfjordbunad is a traditional costume from Nordfjord , a region in the north of Sogn og Fjordane . There have been several different versions of the Nordfjordbunad, both gray and brown variants, but the black, red and green are most commonly used, and are recognized as the official Nordfjordbunad.
The women's costume has a black, folded top with a woven band at the bottom. The waistcoat can be black, red or green, and is edged with the same woven band as the bottom of the top. The apron is woven, with embroidery of various local versions and traditions. An embroidered pocket should hang on the left side. The shirt is also embroidered, around the collar and sleeves. It also belongs to a kep . The brooch is made of silver , and green stones are most common for this costume. It is not common for a headpiece to be worn with the women's costume.

The bunad is worn on formal occasions such as weddings, confirmations, baptisms and on National Day, May 17th.
