About the event
Gloppen Music Festival invites you to a unique concert in Sandane Church, where the boundaries between folk music and classical music are explored and challenged. The concert offers a performance of the brand new work "Tear Fragments" for the special ensemble of Hardanger fiddle, cello and piano by the Westland composer Therese Birkelund Ulvo. The work will be performed the day before in Bergen!
In addition, we hear classical works for piano trio by Frank Martin and Dmitri Shostakovich, who have also been inspired by the value of folk music.
Bergen Piano Trio was started in the fall of 2021 by Edel Bolstad (pianist from Bergen), Sunniva Monstad (violinist from Bergen) and Åshild Brunvoll (cellist from Voss). In recent years, the trio has delved into the music of Brahms, Grieg, Andrée, Shostakovich, Garrop and Sæverud.
