Mardalen & Lars-Lillo Stenberg - Gloppen Music Festival

The acclaimed jazz trio Maridalen is back with a new project – this time in collaboration with songwriter and storyteller Lars Lillo-Stenberg, known for his characteristic ballad interpretations and for his ability to portray the everyday with warmth and uniqueness.

The result was the EP Fransk utgang, recorded in March 2025 in a house in the small French village of Sanxay. The songs were written and composed together during the stay and revolve around travels, observations from the village, longing, wonder and the feeling of coming home again. The lyrics reflect on what it actually means to travel away – and what one discovers along the way. Where Lillo-Stenberg's distinctive expression meets Maridalen's open and Nordic chamber jazz, music emerges that is both melodic and narrative, open and close.
