Gloppen is a municipality in Vestland county (formerly in Sogn og Fjordane county). Gloppen municipality covers 1,040 km² and borders five other municipalities: Stad municipality, Stryn municipality , Sunnfjord municipality, Kinn municipality and Bremanger municipality. Gloppen is located within the Nordfjord landscape.

Gloppen municipality has approx. 5,800 inhabitants. Just over 2,000 of these live in and around the municipal center Sandane . The municipality is naturally divided into three, with Sandane and the areas around Gloppefjorden and the villages Breim and Hyen . The municipality nevertheless consists of five rural centers outside Sandane: Byrkjelo and Reed in Breim, Vereide and Rygg on either side of Gloppefjorden and Hyen behind the mountains to the south. 

Gloppen is Sogn og Fjordane's largest agricultural municipality and accounts for 10% of the county's milk production .

Byrkjelo is home to Tine Meieriet Vest BA , which is one of the municipality's largest workplaces. The municipality is a prominent power municipality and has the head office of Sogn og Fjordane Energi AS . Other cornerstone companies are the boatbuilding company Brødrene Aa , the glass and construction company Bolseth Glass AS .

Among the municipality's famous attractions is the largest man-made tingmoug in Western Norway , called Karnilshaugen . Furthermore, the Holvikejekta is part of the collections of the Nordfjord Folk Museum and represents the historical boatbuilding traditions in the municipality.

Among the newer attractions you will find are the Fosse Theatre in Trivselsskogen and the Nordfjord Sign in the center of Sandane.
